A Joyful Start to the 2025–2026 School Year
A Joyful Start to the 2025–2026 School Year

On September 5, 2025, the children of the six Vinh Son orphanages joined millions of students across Vietnam in celebrating the first day of the new school year. For the first time, Kon Tum hosted an official opening ceremony that was both grand and festive. Schoolyards were transformed with colorful banners, flowers, and the red and yellow star flags of Vietnam, while teachers and students waved small red flags in welcome. Teachers arrived in elegant áo dài of many colors, and the children wore crisp new uniforms with bright red scarves — a joyful display of tradition and pride.

This year’s celebration carried special significance, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the August 1945 Revolution and National Day. To honor these historic milestones, schools across Vietnam organized their ceremonies with special care, combining solemn remembrance with an atmosphere of creativity and optimism for the year ahead.

The Vinh Son children began their day in a spirit of faith and gratitude, attending Holy Mass at Kon Tum Cathedral and in their chapels. Together with the wider Catholic community, they prayed for a year full of blessings, wisdom, and growth, asking for strength to study diligently and live with maturity.

In total, 625 children from the six Vinh Son orphanages took part in the day’s activities. In preparation, both teachers and students worked hard to decorate classrooms, hang banners, and create a welcoming atmosphere. Songs and dances were performed, adding to the excitement and sense of community. Before the formal program began, musical performances delighted the audience, followed by the raising of the national flag and the release of colorful balloons carrying the dreams of the new school year into the sky.

The ceremony reached its height when school principals proudly struck three drumbeats to declare the new school year officially open. A letter from the President of Vietnam was read aloud, encouraging students to learn well and contribute to the nation’s future. Scholarships and awards were then presented to outstanding students, made possible through the generosity of schools, sponsors, and community organizations.

By mid-morning, the event concluded in a warm and hopeful spirit. The 2025–2026 school year promises to be a new journey of opportunity for students across Vietnam, and especially for the children of the six Vinh Son orphanages in Kon Tum. With joy, confidence, and determination, they step into a future full of possibilities.
