Celebrating the Life of Sister Dominic Savio Y Nao
Celebrating the Life of Sister Dominic Savio Y Nao

Joined by the orphans and nuns of Vinh Son 5, we celebrate the life of Dominic Savio Y Nao who passed on April 27, 2025. While her passing brings sorrow and grief to VSO, we celebrate her spirit of charity, love and sacrifice. Her beautiful life was dedicated to caring for children in the villages and the ethnic minority orphans at Vinh Son orphanages, whom she watched over as if they were her own. Her kind and gentle face and passion to educate and nurture according to the love of our Lord Christ Jesus will never be forgotten.

Born on December 18, 1956, Sister Y Nao belonged to Bahnar ethnic minority of Kon Ro Bang village in Kontum province. She officially became a Sister of the Miraculous Convent on November 27, 1974. After her first vows, she was assigned to serve the poor in the Kontum diocese.

- From 1982 - 2000: She served at the main parish of Kontum (at the wooden church)
- From 2000 - 2005: She served the orphans at Vinh Son 1
- From 2005 - 2010: She served the parishioners at Chau Khe parish in Pleiku
- From 2010 - 2020: She served the poor and parishioners at Plei Boong parish in Pleiku
- From 2020 - 2023: She served the poor and parishioners at Kon Tup parish in Pleiku
- From 2023 to 2025: She served the orphans at Vinh Son 5

Her most recent time at Vinh Son 5, Sister Y Nao was assigned to look after and educate the young girls from age 6 to 11 years old. She strived to educate them to lead a good life through her daily prayers and leading by example. She always taught the children to keep clean, take care of their chores, and always encouraged them to study hard at school. She served the children selflessly throughout her life and now she has left this world to return to God with empty hands, but we have no doubt she left content, because her dedication and sacrifice improved the lives of so many, and made them better people through her guidance.

At noon on April 27, 2025, God called her back to Him at the age of 69, after 43 years of caring for our youth.
May God, through our prayers, grant Sister Dominic Savio’s soul the gift to enjoy the face of God in heaven. Our condolences for Sister Dominic Savio Y Nao.

With Love,
-Martha and all the Sisters and children of Vinh Son 5 Orphanage.
