Letters from Scholarship Students
Letters from Scholarship Students

Over the years, thanks to the Holy Spirit’s enlightenment and guidance, the Vinh Son orphanages have received much help from the it’s benefactors. One of our primary supporters is FVSO that has contributed so much to help take care of the orphans. Through FVSO’s contributions towards education, they have enabled children of VSO to grow into good people that are contributing members of society. The gift of education from FVSO, coupled with their hard work and dedication, has created priests, catholic monks of the monasteries, teachers, doctors, nurses, and social workers. Many children from VSO have grown successful careers and businesses in their field respective fields. Thank God and thank FVSO for loving and supporting our children, and enabling them to have happy and successful lives.
In recent years, many students are graduating from universities and colleges. They are finding great jobs such as civil servants for the state or teachers of kindergarten, primary and junior high schools. They are working in different countries such as Japan, or cities here in their homeland like Ho Chi Minh, Kontum and Gia Lai. It is not easy for children of VSO to attend college or professional schools due to the costs. FVSO and its donors has helped make this possible. The students are so grateful and return with the promise to study hard become the best they can be. Together, with the Sisters of the six Vinh Son orphanages, the students pray to God to provide grace for their FVSO’s donors.
Please enjoy the stories below submitted by VSO students who have attend college on FVSO scholarships, graduated, and are now finding success on their own.

Y Hien

My name is Y Hien, I belong to Vinh Son 1. After finishing four years of majoring in medicine and pharmacy with my good school results, I have found a good job at a drugstore near my village with a good monthly salary. I am very grateful and I feel happy to be a member of Vinh Son orphanages.More specifically being a good girl of FVSO and thanks to FVSO’s help, I have achieved my dream to be a pharmacist working part-time to help the ethnic minority villagers when they needed medicines to cure their diseases. At present I am working for a private company, since I was a trainee at school, this private company has invited me to work for them. Looking back I feel I was very lucky to have FVSO’s support for my study at school for food and for my future life. I do not know how to say apart my promise to try my best to do my job to help others in their needs.May God pay back FVSO’s donors good grace for us.

Y Le Hang

My name is Y Le Hang, I belong to Vinh Son 2, and I graduated in Medicine and Pharmacy in 2023 with my good school results. At present I am working as a pharmacist in Japan. Now I would like to write some lines of words to express my sincere gratitude for FVSO’s scholarship that I have received. Thanks to FVSO’s help I could continue to study at school to develop myself to fulfill my dream of becoming a specialist of health to help people with their problems of health. I understand that only good knowledge and kindness are the most baggage for me to enter life, to be able to help poor people of the society to pay back what I have received. I promise I will try my best to study more and more and trin myself every day to become a useful girl for my family and society to not let down my FVSO’s donors, and Mrs Martha who have trusted and supported me in my chosen step of study and I also hope that in the future I will be able to spread my spirit of sharing and love that I have received to help those in needs like me before.

Y MyLa

My name is Y MyLa of Vinh Son 5 orphanage. I graduated in 2023 and I am responsible for my cooking work as a master chef of Villa Song Saigon hotel in district 2. I am very grateful to FVSO for helping me during my time of job training at Vocational School of French bread bakery in Ho Chi Minh City. I have always received FVSO’s support of scholarship which was a great motivation for me to finish my job training with good results as I have now. FVSO’s scholarship is a precious gift for me. Atpresent I am continuing to improve my professional knowledge of my job as well as my English to have good conditions for further development during the time I work at the hotel. I will try my best to look after myself and to help my family now and in the future. If someone from FVSO comes to visit Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh city. Please come to see the hotel where I am working now. Once again thanks FVSO very much for helping with the scholarship.

Y Sloong

My name is Y Sloong of Vinh Son 3 orphanage. I graduated in 2024. I am one amongst the orphaned students who received FVSO’s scholarship. Today I am very happy to write some lines of words to tell our FVSO’s donors with all my joy for my official teaching job at a kindergarten in Ngoc Hoi district which is 70 kilometers from Kontum city. Thanks to FVSO’s scholarship together with my efforts at school I have a good job for my life as I have it now. I feel very happy and lucky to have a good scholarship from FVSO during my study at Teachers training college in Kontum. Thank FVSO and Mrs Martha and all the Sisters who helped me a lot during the past years.

Y Thuong

I am Y Thuong, currently working and living in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam. My current job is a pastry chef at Park Hyatt Saigon Hotel. I am able to take care of myself and I rent my own room just 5km from my workplace in District 10. I always want to share my success and personal experiences with the children so they know they can do it too. FVSO’s help and friendship helps me broaden my knowledge and have a positive outlook, and I feel very lucky to have been adopted in Vinh Son. VSO has helped me grow up to be independent from a young age, learning how to live on my own. Although I left Vinh Son early, I still remember all the lessons I received and keep good habits so that I can improve myself every day.

I still struggle with communication, so sometimes when I want to share, I do not have enough vocabulary to convey it in a concise and easy-to-understand way. I hope this letter conveys positive energy to everyone who reads it.

The Vietnamese Lunar New Year has just passed, and I was able to return to my hometown to visit my family. My family is very happy to be reunited with each other during Tet. My family took pictures together on the occasion of the New Year. This Tet, Thuan and I donated some of our savings to buy cakes and milk as gifts to encourage the children in the village to study hard. (pictured above).
I wish the FVSO association and it’s donors good health, peace, happiness and God's grace.

Y Chon

I am Y Chon from Vinh Son 1 orphanage, I thank you for the love that you have given me. After Tet, we are preparing to start our study program. Although we celebrate Tet, I still do not forget to study, because this year I will prepare to finish my study program. This February, I also go back to school, morning and afternoon classes, we study English for nursing and study innovative entrepreneurship. In addition to the school program, I also watch the younger children, help the nuns, help clean up the house and school supplies. On the weekend, my friends and I go to weed cassava, we work on tractors, and eat in the forest. Although going to work is a bit tiring, many people are very happy. We also went to the hospital for internship in the morning, went to school in the afternoon, and in the evening, I will be on duty at the hospital. Tonight I have a schedule, I am on duty at the hospital. Currently on duty at the Obstetrics Department, in the morning we go to measure vital signs for patients, change bandages, wash wounds, give medicine and give injections to patients, one day I will help the sisters go for prenatal checkups and bathe the newborn baby. Every weekend morning, I and the children clean up the house, clean up around Vinh Son house.

On February 27, 2025, we went to a discussion on Vietnamese Doctors' Day, we listened to teachers speak about the medical profession, we watched music and art performances, it was very fun. I am very happy and proud that I have chosen a career that can help everyone.

I wish you good health, good luck and success in everything you do. I will not forget to pray for you to receive many blessings from God.
